Vanilla sponge

This is a handy base for cakes, I have used it on many, including the Tinkerbell and Tree House cakes.

What you need:
  • 200g butter
  • 1 cups caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla paste
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 ½ cups self-raising flour

How you do it:
  1. Cream the butter and sugar well, then add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.  
  2. Fold through the milk and flour in alternating small batches. 
  3. Bake in 180 degree (pre-heated) oven for 40-50 minutes until cooked through.
